Ouassila Guerroud (Frenchy)
Chef
Chef “Frenchy,” known formally as Ouassila, brings heart, resilience, and cultural richness to her role as Kitchen Manager with Vered.
Originally from Algeria and France, Ouassila holds a Master’s level education and has pursued an extraordinary path of learning across multiple disciplines, earning certificates in medicine, law, education, and culinary arts. She is also multilingual, speaking eighteen languages, allowing her to connect with people from diverse backgrounds with warmth and understanding.
After making the United States her second home, Ouassila continued her journey with determination and perseverance. She earned her Medical Assistant certification and gained professional experience in several fields before dedicating herself fully to the culinary profession—where her passion for nourishing others truly found its home.
With almost a decade of experience as a chef and kitchen supervisor, Ouassila now serves as Kitchen Manager at Vered. In this role, she views food not simply as a meal, but as an essential part of healing. Through thoughtfully prepared, nourishing dishes, she supports the center’s holistic philosophy that “nutrition plays a vital role in recovery” and rebuilding strength.
Chef Frenchy believes that the kitchen can be a place of comfort, connection, and renewal. Each meal she prepares is guided by care, cultural inspiration, and a deep respect for the healing process of those on their recovery journey.
For Ouassila, it is both an honor and a calling to contribute to a community dedicated to wellness, growth, and second chances.
Her story reflects perseverance, courage, and a lifelong belief that through hard work, compassion, and nourishment—both physical and emotional—true healing is possible.
